Well, this is not the post I had scheduled for this week, but yesterday Rick Riordan announced that after several months of discussion, Disney+ has confirmed that they will be adapting the Percy Jackson series!
Rick has confirmed this will be a tv show and there will be one season per book. And the best news is that he and Becky will be retaining creative control!
It’s no secret that I’m a huge fan of the Percy Jackson series. I just finished reviewing the series on the blog (honestly, the timing was just a coincidence, but hey timing!) in anticipation of The Tower of Nero releasing later this fall. It’s also not a secret that I’m not a fan of the movie adaption. One of my first blog posts was actually comparing the book The Lightning Thief to the movie and why I hate pretty much every change they made.
The fact that we’re able to get a new adaptation, promising to be far more loyal, is some of the best news we’ve gotten in such a long time.
Between the Hunger Games prequel coming out Tuesday, Midnight Sun coming out in August, and now this series, my middle school self if thriving. It’s the little things like this that make the colossal shit show that is 2020 bearable.
