Synopsis
Club Rule #4 ā Masks are mandatory but clothing is optional.
Dame Victoria Whittingstall, appointed by The Queen to serve in the Royal Courts, thought she’d achieved all her dreams.
But thereās always been something missing when it came to sex. On the heels of a break up with Boring Baron, her long time boyfriend, her best friend treats her to a one night pass to Londonās most exclusive sex club.
Posh.
Dark.
Sensual.
And completely alive… Club Exotica is straight out of her most forbidden, secret fantasies.
When a handsome stranger finally gives Tori the mind-blowing sex she’s yearned for, she knows one taste will never be enough.
It almost makes her forget about the sexy young barrister that flirts with her at court.
But in Club Exotica, betrayal is around every dark corner and lasting love is elusive.

TW/CW: Sexual assault/attempted rape, stalking, cheating
Review:
I was intrigued by reading this one due to the synopsis. The idea of the novel taking place (at least at part) in a sex club sounded like such a fun and sexy setting…and it definitely delivered.
I think the strength of this book was the balance between the sex scenes with an interesting plot and great use of pacing.Ā I wasn’t too bored waiting for the steamy scenes and enjoyed getting time to watch the couple grow.
I enjoyed that this story followed an older protagonist. I thought it had a strong message showing that people of any age could embrace their sexuality and explore their carnal desires. Tori is a strong judge of the court who has been told to cover her body and was in a long-term unsatisfying sexual relationship and over the course of this book, develops into someone confident with her sexuality exploring various types of kinky sex.
Ian, our main love interest was described to be incredibly swoony. His banter early in the novel and his dirty talk during the sex scenes are pretty solid. He doesn’t have the best dirty talk I’ve read, but it’s definitely sexy. I didn’t like that he became slightly possessive towards the end, I get he wanted exclusivity when others were flirting with Tori, but still not my thing. That being said, I can feel how some readers will find it appealing that he wants the monogamy and is willing to show that alpha male side.
I liked the juxtaposition between Rupert and Ian. Rupert is described as a stuffy aristocrat, who digs lights off missionary position. Ian, on the other hand, is bold enough to banter and flirt with the judge in court and begins to consume Tori’s thoughts.
Also, getting chapters from Tori’s and Ian’s POV was a great way to help develop the couple and getting both their thoughts helped add to the sexual tension and satisfaction of the sex scenes.
What I didn’t like was Rupert’s apparent character change after his break up with Tori. Tori discovers some secrets about Rupert and is confronted with the fact that despite their long friendship, she doesn’t know him as well as she thought. I also really didn’t like the fact that Rupert deceived Tori and attempted to sexually assault her. I can understand the author’s reasoning for having Rupert becoming more possessive and struggling with the breakup. I can even be okay with him trying to force Tori into his sexual proclivities once the cat was out of the bag and even convince himself that he can help her find desires she didn’t know she had. But I just felt a bit squeamish that he violated her space (her home) and tried to assault her and then lied about it and threatened her. I’ve read other romance books that have an ex-lover assault plot before, but it felt really out of place here.
Final Thoughts:
Overall, this was a fun, sexy romance that is tame enough for those wanting to dabble in BDSM romance, but still steamy enough for veteran romance readers. Ian is added to the list of sexy book lovers that make us all wish we can make characters real, without going too far into the pretentious douche side of things. This was also a super-fast read! I was able to finish this one in a few hours over a couple of sittings. If you’re looking for a sexy romance, this is definitely one to consider!

Not sure if this is for you?
Here’s an excerpt of the book:
āJustice Whittingstall is waiting for you in her chambers. You can go right in,ā the girl said, pointing toward the door at the end of a long stone hallway.
He knocked once and opened the door. Tori sat behind her desk, but she wasnāt smiling. She was also still wearing her high court robes, which seemed odd.
After shutting the door behind him, he stepped forward, waiting for her to say something. When she didnāt, he went into formal mode, sinceāsexting asideāit was always the safest strategy when invited into a judgeās chambers.
āYour Honor, Justice Whittingstall. Thank you for seeing me. I want to say again how sorry I am. I promise never to lie or keep the truth from you again. Ever. And I hopeāā
āLock the door,ā she interrupted, her tone cold.
He hurriedly did as he was told. Turning back to face her, he tried again. āPlease, give me another chance.ā
She sat behind her desk, looking prim in all black with her hair pulled tight in a bun. Her expression remained stony and unyielding.
He took a few steps closer. āI thought you invited me here today t-toāā He stammered to a stop.
One did not tell a high court judge that he was there to bang herĀ wet, throbbing, achingĀ person, even if she had said it first.
Facing her icy glare, he retreated. āOr did you mean that you wanted to meet after hours or at the club tonight? Iāll do anything you want.ā
āWill youĀ reallyĀ do anything I want?ā
Seeing an opening, he eagerly said, āYes. Wherever and whenever. We can start slowly and thenāā
āTake off all your clothes.ā
