Hey friends!
I hope you’ve all been well these past few months! I’ve had a lot of things happen in my personal life recently and due to this, I’ve put my BookTube channel and blog on hold for a bit. Fortunately, balance is finally entering my life again and I can get back into blogging and filming!
So, where have I been?
Mostly, I’ve been adjusting to my new job! In February, I got a new job as a Youth Care Counselor at a local residential treatment center. I work with teens suffering from various mental health issues as their floor staff. I help them with completing their structure for the day, working on their treatment goals, and helping them out by being a mentor or tutor when needed. This job is fairly emotionally taxing as the group dynamics vary on a regular basis. Also, we are a bit short staffed in my department, so I’ve been putting in lots of overtime.
Overall though, I do enjoy my job. I like the clients that I work with and I like watching their progress as they work towards various goals. I won’t go as far as to say thatΒ I’m helping them,Β though I do feel like I’m a valuable part of their treatment process.
Wow, that sounded pompous as I wrote it.
But, this job has taken up a lot of my free time as I’ve been working stupid early mornings and I have a pretty long commute. That isn’t to say that IΒ can’t make any more content. Rather, I just needed to figure out the best way to balance work, reading, creating content, playing with the puppies, getting housework done and resting/sleep. I don’t want to jinx anything, but I think I’ve finally found that balance.
So, what’s next?
I’ve missed making bookish content. This online book community has always been a place I can go to relax, connect with some amazing people, and share my thoughts on my recent reads.
So, I’m going to try to get back to posting regular content. I’m not sure if I can commit to daily posts, but I am going to try to get back to writing tbrs, wrap-ups, doing memes and tags when I have time, and of course, sharing reviews on favorite or disappointing reads. I’m going to try to write reviews on every book that I read. I find this helps with my comprehension and helpful for revisiting books at the end of the months for writing up my wrap up. That being said, I may not have time to write a review for every book I read, though I’ll try to at least include a mini review for the wrap-up, written closer to when I finish the book so all my thoughts are fresh.
I’m also going to try to continue with some of the series I started last year. These include the Pick up or Pass? series, where I read popular backlist titles and see if they’re still worth checking out, my BookTube made Me Do It series where I reflect on books I read purely because of the online book community and share my thoughts, and revisiting Film Fridays where we talk either about recent movies I’ve seen or comparing book to screen adaptations.
I have a few new series I’ve been thinking of introducing either on here or on my YouTube channel, though I probably won’t be starting these for another few months.
I will probably have more overlap between the blog and my YouTube channel, though, there will still be content exclusive to the blog and content exclusive to the channel. I hope these changes allow for interesting content on both mediums and allows you to pick your medium of choice for the various content.
What can you expect in the near future?
Since I’ve been gone for so long, I have a lot of catch up to do. Upcoming videos and blog posts you can expect are:
- All the Books I’ve Read (so far) This Year (January – April Wrap Up)
- May Wrap Up
- June TBR
- BookCon Vlog (YouTube only)
- BookCon Haul
- Underrated Book Recommendation
- Anticipated Summer Releases
I’m hoping to have these videos/posts up within the next two weeks.
I have some other blog exclusive content planned as well.
I can’t wait to get back into blogging. I hope you’re all excited for the upcoming content!
Lastly, thank you all for sticking with me during this unexpected hiatus!
