Film Friday | November Releases I Can’t Wait to See

Hey friends,

Happy November everyone!

Does anyone else feel like this time of the year sees a bunch of great new releases? I feel like we get a nice peak over the summer and then a final peak around the holiday season.

I’ve also noticed so many trailers of movies or shows that make me say “ooo I want to see that” and I want to share them with you all as well!

November Releases:

Bohemian Rhapsody – The Freddy Mercury bio pick has been getting so much hype since the spring, and you bet I’m gonna see this. Queen’s music was an integral part of my playlist since I was little, and seeing a movie about the origins of the band sounds like such a fun ride. I have heard several people say that this movie takes some creative liberties with history, but as I don’t know that much about the band’s history, I don’t think that’s a turn off for me. Also, two hours of Queen music. Yes please.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms – So, this is one of those movies I may just wait to stream, but I have this weird fascination with it. From the trailers, this movie looks like the poor man’s Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland. The font, cinematography, and costume designs look so familiar, but I’m still tempted to see it. This movie can be every copy and paste fantasy movie out there, but there is some room for creativity. Also, the Nutcracker was the first show I was in (5- and 6-year-old Becky was an angel and 7-year-old Becky was a toy soldier), so I check out most adaptaions…eventually.

The Grinch – Ooooo. Yeah. So, I hate the Jim Carey version. I think that with the exception of like 2 jokes, the humor falls flat. I grew up with the animated special and it’s one of my staples of the holiday season. So, with my conflicted thoughts on past Dr. Suess adaptations and already bitter taste from the last Grinch movie, I’m pretty hesitant going into this movie. That being said, I’ve seen a lot of people say it’s fun and harmless and I could use a bit of holiday cheer.

Ralph Breaks the Internet – I loved Wreck it Ralph so so much and am so excited to see this sequel. I love the Disney Princess cameo from the trailer and I can’t wait to see what Disney does with this plot. I mean, I know we’ve seen this movie (well plot) a lot recently, but I really can’t wait to see this spin. I just hope that we don’t just get Cameo: The Movie.

Boy Erased – This looks like a completely heart wrenching movie, but it’s one that looks so good. I didn’t get a change to see Cameron Post, but I’m half tempted to do a double feature with these two and just destroy my heart for a day.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald – Okay and probably my most anticipated release for November is Fantastic Beasts. I was so pleasantly surprised by the first Fantastic Beasts film and I can’t wait to see how this movie continues the story. I know there has been some concerns by other fans with how J. K. Rowling is evolving the fandom, and I have my own reserves, but I’m still pretty excited.

  1. Bohemian Rhapsody was a-ma-zing. ❤
Queen's been THE band I listened to growing up, even though Freddie had died before I was even born and seeing a movie about him was.. everything, really? Just for those two hours I actually felt like I was part of their history and it was amazing. I cried too. :')

    1. Thank you so much! I was debating if I wanted to read the book first or not, but I know I have a lot to get to this month. Though, I’m not even sure if there’s a theater by me playing this one…

Though if I don’t get to it in theaters, I will probably check out the book first!
