Hey friends,
I hope you’re all having an amazing week! I’ve had a pretty unproductive week, but hopefully, this midpoint is where that all changes lol.
I’m also pumped for this month’s Waiting on Wednesdays since they’re all going to be September books (aka my birthday month, so they’re slightly better).
Let’s jump into today’s post!
For those of you not familiar, Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over atΒ Breaking the Spine. This meme spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases. 2018 has a ton of amazing books coming out so it will be super easy to highlight a release for the rest of the year.
This week’s pick:
This week I’m highlighting A Blade So Black by L. L. McKinney.
Synopsis:
The first time the Nightmares came, it nearly cost Alice her life. Now she’s trained to battle monstrous creatures in the dark dream realm known as Wonderland with magic weapons and hardcore fighting skills. Yet even warriors have a curfew.
Life in real-world Atlanta isn’t always so simple, as Alice juggles an overprotective mom, a high-maintenance best friend, and a slipping GPA. Keeping the Nightmares at bay is turning into a full-time job. But when Alice’s handsome and mysterious mentor is poisoned, she has to find the antidote by venturing deeper into Wonderland than sheβs ever gone before. And she’ll need to use everything she’s learned in both worlds to keep from losing her head . . . literally.
Predictions:
So, this is an Alice in Wonderland retelling.
Yup, I’m sold.
But joking aside, I am really excited to see the take on Alice through this different lens! One thing I love about retellings is seeing how the author transforms the work and this take seems pretty different from other Alice retellings I’ve read.
I’m actually helping out with a blog tour of this one in September, so I do have an ARC copy, but I’m still super pumped for this one to be out in the world!
Are you planning on reading A Blade So Black?
