Top Ten Tuesday | Best Books I’ve Read (So Far)

Hey friends,

Sorry for skipping yesterday’s post! I had some stuff I had to do (dang adulthood) and didn’t have time to write or schedule any of my posts for the week.

However, we are back today with Top 10 Tuesday, one of my favorite things to do (almost) every week!

For those of you not familiar with Top Ten Tuesday, it was a meme created by the lovely bloggers over at The Broke and the Bookish but was moved to That Artsy Ready Girl in 2018. Be sure to check out Jana’s blog for prompts for the rest of the year!

This week for Top Ten Tuesday our prompt was pretty open: Throw is back to a prompt from earlier this year or one that you missed out on.

When going to Jana’s page for the prompts, I saw that she did “best books I’ve read so far” and was immediately sold! As of today, I have read 65 books! Let’s talk about my favorites (excluding rereads).

10. Lies You Never Told Me by Jennifer Donaldson — This book was so much fun to read and the twist just really added to it. While I did figure out the twist pretty early on (mostly due to an accident lol), I still really enjoyed the story! If you want more of my thoughts, I have a full review here.

9. Obsidio by Amie Kaufman and Jay Kristoff — This was a fun conclusion to one of my favorite series of all time. While I can’t complain about how everything concluded, I did find myself wanting a bit more. It’s not like the ending ruined the series, it’s just not what I was expecting. I’m still going to continue to reread this series!

8. The Hating Game by Sally Thorne — This was a book that was super hyped for me and I’m happy that I ended up enjoying it! I don’t think I fell in love with it as much as some other people did, but it was a fun, steamy, quick read that is one I can see myself revisiting on a future vacation or by the pool! 7. Hunting Prince Dracula & Escaping From Houdini by Kerri Maniscalco — I lumped these two together, but I really enjoyed them both. I love how this series keeps building upon the events of the first book, but also understanding the repercussions of the early novels. This is a series I can find myself rereading around Halloween for sure! Like many readers, I’m going to be super sad when it ends next year (or is it two years?) 6. Sleeping Giants by Sylvain Neuvel — This is a story that was pitched to me the wrong way but was so intriguing to read. I think it could have been a five stars if I knew what I was (or more accurately wasn’t) getting into, but one I still enjoyed once I shook away the Illuminae Files comparison. I loved the twist at the end, and while book two wasn’t better than this (in my opinion), I loved how it ended and can’t wait to see how book three concludes this series!

5. Nemesis and Genesis by Brendon Reichs — Ah, this is one of my new favorites series, probably of all time! I love the mash-up of genres and the mindfucks you get in this book! The ending (of both books, truly) had me riding so many emotions and I can’t wait to see how book three wraps everything together! (Full review of book 2 + author interview here!)

4. 13 Minutes by Sarah Pinborough — This was another super fun YA mystery! I loved how everyone is painted as a suspect and I thought the reveal of who did it and why was genius! It’s a twist you may see coming, but if you don’t prepare to be amazed! This is one I can definitely see myself rereading again! (Full thoughts here!)

3. The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernsaw — This book has been getting a ton of hype, and I can totally see why! This novel was super eerie and atmospheric and was just a ton of fun! This book will be perfect in the fall when you’re looking for a nice Halloween read! Fans of witchy reads, Hocus Pocus, and the Halloween aesthetic will really enjoy this one!

2. Legendary by Stephanie Garber — First is the worst, second is the best. That schoolyard chant is perfect for summing up my thoughts with this series. Okay, no it’s not. Caraval wasn’t that bad (especially on the reread), but Legendary took everything that was good about Caraval and made it WORLDS better! I am just in love with this series and cannot wait to see how it concludes! I have reviews on books one and two if you want to know more detailed thoughts!

1. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkin’s Reid — This is easily one of the best books I’ve ever read….ever. This story was captivating, powerful, and one that has stuck with me since I read it back in March. I can’t put my finger on what makes this book so good, but it’s one that I highly recommend reading if you haven’t picked it up yet! I’m not usually one for the chick lit, historical fiction, literary fiction genre, yet this book is still one of my favorites of all time!
