Hi friends!
Sorry for skipping last week’s post. I was swamped with other responsibilities and didn’t have time to write it up. To make up for the lack of post last week, I have gone through 10 books (instead of my usual 5) this week.
For those of you not familiar, this meme was created by Lost in a Story (also the creator of the stunning graphic!) and it was designed to help you go through and clean out your Goodreads “to read” shelf. I know I add books on there and completely forget about them or only add books because of the hype, but had no desire to actually read them.
How it works:
- Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
- Order on ascending date added.
- Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
- Read the synopses of the books
- Decide: keep it or should it go?
- Keep track of where you left off so you can pick up there next week!
Current “To Read” shelf stats: 691 books
This week’s books: 6-15
Book 6:
A Darker Shade of Magic by V. E. Schwab
I’ve been hearing so much hype about this series and I’m really excited to check it out. Having never read a book by V. E. Schwab and not being overly familiar with adult books, I’m slightly intimidated.
VERDICT: KEEP
Book 7:
Like last week’s book, The Girl on the Train, this is another book that everyone and the mother have read this book, but I haven’t. Unlike The Girl on the Train, I have an audiobook of it, so I plan on getting to it sometime soon. Oh, and I didn’t read the synopsis since I prefer to go into thrillers knowing little to nothing about the book.
VERDICT: KEEP
Book 8:
The Giver (The Giver #1) by Lois Lowery
This is a book that somehow was not on my radar until around the time the movie came out. To be fair, that was during my reading hiatus. After watching the movie, I’m curious to see how the rest of the story develops.
VERDICT: KEEP
Book 9:
The Magicians (The Magicians #1) by Lev Grossman
I LOVE the adaptation of this show on Syfy. But all book nerds know, when it comes to adoptions, checking the books out is a must (well is a strong suggestion). I’m not sure when I’m going to read this series, but it’s definitely one I want to read.
VERDICT: KEEP
Book 10:
The Magicians King (The Magicians #2) by Lev Grossman
I’m keeping this one for now, but I’ll make an official decision after I read book 1.
VERDICT: KEEP
Book 11:
The Magicians Land (The Magicians #3) by Lev Grossman
I’m keeping this one for now, but I’ll make an official decision after I read book 1.
VERDICT: KEEP
Book 12:
Alchemists of Loom (Loom Saga #1) by Elise Kova
After reading the synopsis of this one, I’ve decided to keep it. This is a book I still have interest in, though it’s not a high priority read. This is a book I feel like I’m going to have to be in the right mood to read, and one I’m probably going to check out from the library.
VERDICT: KEEP
Book 13:
My Lady Jane (The Lady Janies #1) by Cynthia Hand, Brodi Ashton, and Jodi Meadows
I’ve heard so many people RAVE about this book and after enjoying The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, is one I’m thinking about giving a chance. This isn’t usually the kind of book I’d pick up, but it’s one I get more interested, the more I read people’s reviews.
VERDICT: KEEP
Book 14:
Fate of the Tearling (Queen of the Tearling #3) by Erika Johansen
I’m keeping this one for now, but I’ll make an official decision after I read book 1.
VERDICT: KEEP
Book 15:
Beauty of Darkness (The Remnant Chronicles #3) by Mary E Pearson
I’m keeping this one for now, but I’ll make an official decision after I read book 1.
VERDICT: KEEP
REMOVAL PERCENTAGE: 0%
And those are the next 10 books on my “To Read” shelf.
Have you read any of these books?
Should I prioritize any of these?
Let me know below!
Becky! Gone Girl is such a good book! I like it a lot and I read it a long time ago, so I bet you will love it! I think like the audiobook is like 24 hours so that is too much haha
The Giver is really good! and the rest of the saga are quite nice, but nothing like The Giver!
