Hey friends,
I hope you’re all having an amazing Wednesday! I’m having a meh day, but disappearing into the internet always helps lol. Can you believe that we’re already done with February? Seriously, where is this year going?
Anyways, it’s time for the one weekly series I’m actually kind of good at sticking to. It’s time for Waiting on Wednesday!
For those of you not familiar, Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill over atย Breaking the Spine. This meme spotlights highly anticipated upcoming releases. 2018 has a ton of amazing books coming out so it will be super easy to highlight a release for the rest of the year.
This week’s pick:
This week I’m highlighting The Wicked Deep by Shea Ernshaw
Synopsis:
Welcome to the cursed town of Sparrowโฆ
Where, two centuries ago, three sisters were sentenced to death for witchery. Stones were tied to their ankles and they were drowned in the deep waters surrounding the town.
Now, for a brief time each summer, the sisters return, stealing the bodies of three weak-hearted girls so that they may seek their revenge, luring boys into the harbor and pulling them under.
Like many locals, seventeen-year-old Penny Talbot has accepted the fate of the town. But this year, on the eve of the sistersโ return, a boy named Bo Carter arrives; unaware of the danger he has just stumbled into.
Mistrust and lies spread quickly through the salty, rain-soaked streets. The townspeople turn against one another. Penny and Bo suspect each other of hiding secrets. And death comes swiftly to those who cannot resist the call of the sisters.
But only Penny sees what others cannot. And she will be forced to choose: save Bo, or save herself.
Predictions:
I love witches. I just want to get that out there. I’ve always been fascinated by them and love reading books or watching movies about them. I’m so excited to read this book as it explores the classic story we know, but will probably put a spin on it.
Also, this book is averaging pretty good reviews on Goodreads, which makes me excited. I’ve only recently seen people start talking about this one, but I’m hoping there’s at least a little hype when it actually releases next week.
I’m anticipating this one to be around a 3.5-4 star read for me.
