Goodreads Monday

Goodreads Monday | One Foot in the Grave by C. C. Hunter

Hey friends,

Holiday or not, Mondays are still Mondays and I am dragging today. I have a healthy number of things I need to do today and I’m finding everything and anything I can do to procrastinate, except I don’t want to do anything so I’m just sitting in bed. Coffee isn’t helping, so I’m coming to the internet to whine…you’re welcome!

As you’re all aware, today is Monday (at least it still is in the States) meaning it Goodreads Monday! For those of you not familiar with this meme, Goodreads Mondays originated on Lauren’s Page Turners’ blog. To participate, you just showcase a random book from your Goodreads page. The twist is that I’m only going to feature my TBR shelf (aka the “want to read “shelf)  like many other people do so I guess it’s not that much of a twist, BUUUUUT, I’m also going to predict my star rating of the book! I’ve seen both Regan (PeruseProject) and Sam (Thoughts on Tomes) do 5 Star TBR Prediction YouTube videos and have been inspired to do a video or post but was struggling to find some 5-Star predictions. This is kind of my middle ground where I can predict my star rating and why and then revisit this post after I read it to see how close I actually was.

To pick the books for this, I’m putting my Goodreads want to read shelf number in a random number generator and letting fate pick the number for me. The lucky number for this week was 433 and as you can see from the title, the lucky book was One Food in the Grave by C. C. Hunter.

Her dad’s an alcoholic. Her mom passed away when she was young. She sees dead people. Can seventeen-year-old Riley Smith’s life get any crazier? Yes it can.

When Riley’s attempt to help a spirit leads her to the discovery that the young woman’s death wasn’t an accident, she finds herself face-to-face with the killer. And just when things seem like they couldn’t get any more complicated, she’s visited by another ghost, a boy her age, whose smile makes her melt. Her job is to convince him to pass over, but her heart doesn’t want to let him go.

Star Rating Prediction:

⭐️⭐️⭐️ – 3/5

So I requested this book from NetGalley and I’m not sure what my final thoughts are going to be. I’ve kind of outgrown paranormal books, yet I have a lot I want to read. Girl Who Ignore Ghosts, The Hearts We Sold, etc. Lots of paranormal books for someone who claims not to read them anymore.

That being said, this is a tricky genre post Twilight and I’m proceeding with caution. I don’t want my expectations for this book to be too high going in so I can give this book the fairest shot possible. I am excited to read this one, I requested it around Halloween and did not get to it (school was rough guys).

I’m hoping this book blows me away and I’m excited to give it a shot. The buzz for this book is great and if it lives up to the hype, that would be awesome.
