I hope you’re all having a fantastic Thursday! I’ve been wanting to start a theory based series on the blog for a while now and am so excited to share the first one with you. I will preface that I did not come up with this theory and that this post is mostly a response and summary of the video by the SuperCarlinBrothers. Make sure you check out their video below!

Okay, so I’ll be frank, I kind of sort of maybe considered the idea that Nagini was human in the past, but I was more in the vein of unregistered animagus hence the long lifespan and personality. I also know that thought process was kind of garbage. I’m also aware there’s a full list of the unregistered animagi, but she could have just not been added.
Honestly, though, I thought this video was interesting. I don’t agree with it, per se, but I thought it was interesting. Having this unnamed character that is cursed to turn into a magical beast and wearing snake scale and have a “snake girl” circus ticket is BEGGING for a huge reveal. That being said, I don’t think that she will turn into Nagini, my main reason for this is the timeline. I’m sure most HP fans are aware, but the main series does not take place in the late 90s to early 2000s, rather it takes place in the 80s to 90s. Hell, 19 years later was this year. If the girl (who looks to be in her mid-20s) was transformed into Nagini in this movie, she would then be OLDER than Voldy. Even for magical creatures, that lifespan is starting to get a bit weird. I get that we don’t know how this spell affects the lifespan. We don’t know if they live a human lifespan or the lifespan of the magical beast. Going off of that, we don’t know how the age the person was when they were cursed affects this lifespan too. Because of these concerns, I personally don’t think that this person will become Nagini.
The Reveal I Want:
That being said, J did end the video with an interesting point about the Horned Serpent. This is the beast I would love her to turn into. Not only is all the snake imagery predicting this, but the Horned Serpent is a magical beast that related directly back to Ilvermorny. J brought up two great points, first that the Thunderbird was what saved the day in Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. This is another house mascot. Having each movie focus on a house mascot is super creative and will be great for story telling. 2) Ilvermorny was first introduced right before the Fantastic Beasts movie, why? All we got was a name drop in the movie. For context, we got two name drops in Goblet of Fire (Durmstrang and Beauxbatons) and actually got to learn more about these schools. Why release Ilvermorny so close to the Fantastic Beasts movie release if it’s not going to play more of a role in the plot. Yes, I do know there are articles on Pottermore about the different Wizarding Schools from around the world in the HP universe, but none of these other schools got the attention that Hogwarts and Ilvermorny have gotten (at least not that I’ve seen or heard).
