Top 10 Favorite Fictional Dads!

Happy Father’s Day too all the dad’s out there!

Although many people celebrate this day, a fair number truly loath it for one reason or another. I’ll be honest, father’s day is defintely not my favorite day of the year, but I’m hoping this post is something that everyone can enjoy.

Here are my ten favorite fictional dads!

Atticus_FinchAtticus Finch – To Kill a Mockingbirdย

I’m not going to lie, I’m not the biggest fan of this book/movie. I have nothing against it and I think it has a super important message. I just don’t like it as much as everyone else done. That being said, Atticus is one of the best fictional fathers out there.

โ€œYou never really understand a person until you consider things from his point of view โ€ฆ until you climb into his skin and walk around in it.โ€

Gomez-AddamsGomez Addams – Addams Family

His family might be creepy and kooky, but Gomez is an amazing father. He truly cares about his family.

“I would die for her. I would kill for her. Either way, what bliss.”

Arthur WeasleyArthur Weasley – Harry Potter franchise

The Weasley family is probly my favorite fictional family of all time. Arthur is such a fun dad to have, it’s clear that he loves his work and his family and is more than happy to be a father figure for Harry.

“Times like these, dark times, they do funny things to people. They can tear them apart.”

Star-Wars-Darth-Vader-WallpaperDarth Vader – Star Wars

Probably the most famous dad in the galaxy and behind one of the greatest reveals in movie history, Aniken Skywalker is the dad of Luke and Leia, but I’m sure you knew that. He made the list because several of the major plot points of the film franchise are based off of the paternal relationship between Aniken and his kids.

No Luke, ย I am your father.”

Bob_ParrBob Parr – The Incredibles

Let’s be frank, the events of the Incredibles primarily happened because of Bob’s actions. That being said, he was trying to help his family by returning to his super persona.

“You are my greatest adventure, and I almost missed it.”

MufasaMufasa – The Lion King

King of the pride lands inspired by the ghost of Hamlet’s father. Although he didn’t have much screen time, it’s the death of Mufasa that kicks of most of the plot. Mufasa is also a solid dad though, he helps Simba grow and turn into the rightful king of Pride Rock.

“Simba, I’m only brave when I have to be. Being brave doesn’t mean you go looking for trouble.”

Marlin-FNMarlin – Finding Nemo

Any dad that explores the entire ocean to find his son deserves a spot on this list.

“I have to get out of here! I have to find my son! I have to tell him how old sea turtles are!”

Dan ConnerDan Conner – Rosanne

My favorite thing about this sitcom is how relateable the family is. My mom used to watch this show all the time and it grew on me over the years. I love how realistic Dan’s character is. He seems like he can be anyone’s father, not overly perfect like other sitcom fathers.

“Ah, man. This parenthood thing sure doesn’t look like it did in the brochures.”

Mr. ParkerMr. Parker “Old Man” – A Christmas Story

In the same mindset of Dan, Mr. Parker was another “everyday” father figure. He was grouchy, he swore, but he loved family. Hell, he got Ralphie the ultimate Christmas present.

“It’s a Major Award!”

Indiana JonesIndiana Jones – Indiana Jones

Okay this one is kind of cheating. I don’t like him as a dad, but he is technically a dad. I am a huge fan of Indiana Jones.

“Nothing shocks me. I’m a scientist.”

Honorable Mentions (A.K.A. father figures)

Sirius Black

Sirius Black – Harry Potter franchise

Sirius’s death was one of the hardest for me in the Harry Potter franchise. In the three books we had Sirius, he truly became the closest thing Harry had to a father throughout the books.

“We’ve all got both light and dark inside us. What matters is the part we choose to act on. That’s who we really are.”

YonduYondu – Gardians of the Galaxyย

If you’re not tearing up a bit, you’re lying. Honestly, the end of Guardians almost had me sobbing (it did get a few tears though). Definitely not a traditional father figure, but it took a couple words to make him a new favorite father figure of mine.

“He might be your father boy, but he wasn’t your daddy.”

      1. I work for an ABC station and the word is that both actresses that played Becky will be in it, though ai’m not sure how they are going to swing that. Also, they are going to address how the current political landscape is affecting middle America, or something like that. It should be good, and if not at least it will be interesting!
