The Book Blog Newbie Tag – #BookTag!

Today the blog is one month old!

I can’t believe that a month has flown by. You guys in the bookish and blogging community have all been wonderful with showing your support. I can’t wait to see what this will grow into!

When looking through other posts, I found this tag on The Book Mermaids blog (be sure to check her out when you’re done).

Without further ado, here is The Book Blog New Tag:

1 – Why did you start this blog?

I have been thinking about starting a blog for a while, but finally decided to take the plunge and do it. I’ve recently got back into reading and love sharing my thoughts and discussing books with others. My friend Audris (check out her blog here!) has been blogging for a while now and gave me some great tips and tricks for getting started.

2 –  What are some fun and unique things you can bring to book blogging?

I think I can bring some unique perspectives to the books I read. Also, I have fairly eclectic tastes, which will allow the content to be fairly diverse.

3 – What are you most excited for about this new blog?

I’m excited to see what this blog can become. In this first month, we’ve already gotten over 20 followers and almost 400 followers on Instagram. I can’t wait to see what these numbers would look after a few more months or even a year.

I’m also super excited to get back into reading. It’s been almost 6 years since I was able to actively read and I can’t wait to get caught up and interact with the community.

4 – Why do you love reading?

I love going on the adventures with the characters. As cliché as it sounds, it’s probably why I love fantasy so much.

5 – What book or series got you into reading?

I started reading when I was little. But I’d have to say the Harry Potter series and Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland (and Through the Looking Glass) were some of the most influential works in my life. I also loved the Magic Tree House series by Mary Pope Osborn. That was the first series I actively read and waiting for new books to be released.

6 – What questions would you ask your favorite authors?

How did you create the world and the characters? How did the adventure come to you? When you were little, did you ever see yourself writing a/this successful book?

I have so many favorite authors, these questions could apply to all of them.

7 – What challenges do you think starting a blog will be the hardest to overcome?

  1. Staying caught up with reading during the school year. Blogs will only be successful if I keep it active and I can’t keep it active if I don’t read.
  2. Maintaining an audience that reads my blog. Don’t get me wrong, I started this blog because I love books and I want to share my love of books with others. That being said, it would be cool to actually reach others and share my thoughts with them.

8 – When did you start reading?

I don’t know the exact age, but Kindergarten or 1st grade. My mom always encouraged reading. Sadly, life got in the way and I wasn’t able to read between 10th grade and senior year of undergrad, but I’m thrilled I can start reading again now.

9 – Where do you read?

My bed, my couch, and the subway are my preferred reading spots.

10 – What kind of books do you like to read?

YA is my favorite genre! YA fantasy, contemporary, sci-fi, and dystopian are my go-tos. Occasionally, I’ll read historical fiction, adult fiction/fantasy, sci-fi, and true crime.

I am looking to expand my reading taste a bit.

  1. Congrats on one month of blogging! 🙂 I also LOVED the Magic Treehouse books as a kid. It can definitely be challenging at first to keep up a blog while in school, but in my experience, you find a balance eventually! And I totally agree about reading spots– I like my bed, the couch, and public transit, in that order.
